2019 Ram 1500 vs. Ford F-150

2019 RAM 1500

The Ram 1500 and the Ford F-150 often go head to head for the title of best light-duty truck on sale. However, in 2019, the 2019 Ram 1500 for sale at Ram dealerships in Kansas and Missouri beats the Ford F-150 in many ways. Read on to see how the 2019 Ram 1500 is the best buy this year.

Let's See How These Two Trucks Compare

Technology and Comfort

The 2019 Ram 1500 sports many up to date technological features and superior comfort, surpassing many competitors in the field including the 2019 Ford F-150. Both models are replete in features now present in high-end vehicles including tilt adjustable steering wheels, power steering, cruise control, and rearview cameras. While many of these additions have now become commonplace, it is rare to find vehicles that have all of the standards and build even further upon that.

Ram really spiced up the in-cabin experience, providing six total speakers for a supreme experience that is sure to please the audiophiles in 2019. This is greater than the four speakers the 2019 Ford F-150 is furnished with. Both vehicles come equipped with auxiliary audio input and USB with external media control, USB connection, and an AM/FM stereo, making it convenient and compatible for multiple types of connectivity.

Ram and Ford both provide an interior clock, tachometer, heated mirrors, and a modern odometer know as a trip computer that is able to record, calculate and display the distance traveled, the average speed, the average fuel consumption, and real-time fuel consumption. Further, the 2019 Ram 1500 includes an electrochromatic inside rearview mirror. This is a newer technology applied to rear view mirrors to automatically dim proportionally to the glare of headlights on the mirror's surface, reducing discomfort and providing safer night rides.

While both Ram and Ford provide three seats in their 2019 models, Ram offers a little more hip room at 62.9 inches over Ford's measurement of 62.5 inches, making it just a marginally more spacious seat. The front seats in Ram are made of vinyl versus the cloth seats by Ford, giving it the advantage of making the cleaning process and maintenance much easier, while also repelling spills or wet weather from seeping into the seats.

A smooth ride is where this Ram model really shines, however, both models include front independent suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars (providing better ride quality and handling characteristics while minimizing disturbance), but Ram's 2019 model is particularly known for its smooth-riding suspension pairing its top-notch entertainment with a comfortable, gentle ride.

Engine Performance

The 2019 Ram 1500 does an impeccable job in terms of performance thanks to its hefty and powerful engine that gives it a powerful edge. While both vehicles utilize V6 cylinders, the edge this Ram model has is in its horsepower, which clocks in at 305 hp at 6400 rpm. This just slightly outperforms the 2019 Ford model whose engine is performing at 290 hp at 6500 rpm. Further, the 2019 Ram houses a large base engine size at 3.6L over the Ford's 3.3L engine. Both models are very capable with their stacked engine abilities and outperform many competitors in the market.

In terms of transmission, the 2019 Ram takes the cake with an eight-speed shiftable automatic, which is one of the latest advancements of the automatic transmission in the industry. This is greater than the six-speed shiftable automatic the 2019 Ford F-150 has. Shiftable automatics offer the best of both worlds to a driver and give the power back to the hands of those in the seat. Eight-speed shiftable automatics have many advantages including their ability to offer better fuel economy by up to 11% compared to six-speeds and provide overall faster shift times, all brought together as a product of forward-thinking innovation.

Both vehicles are otherwise similar in that they both included variable valve timing (used to improve performance, fuel economy, and emissions), 24 valves (increases power and cycling rate of exhaust), and double overhead cams which provides an advantage over single overhead cams in both performance and fuel efficiency.

Safety

While a powerful ride can be fun, a safe one is even more important. The 2019 Ram model does an excellent job keeping all of its passengers safe through implementing various modes of safety technology that provide a safe and reliable ride to get everyone to their ultimate destination, mitigating any bumps in the road. Both 2019 models feature modern safety technology including post-collision safety systems that automatically employ the brakes once airbag sensors detect collision during the initial impact of a crash. This can be significant in reducing the severity of a crash and prevent further damage from occurring.

For daily safety precautions that keep passengers safe on a regular basis, both models present dusk sensing headlamps (automatically changes headlamps to turn on once dusk hits), tire pressure monitoring (provides alerts for any changes or drops in tire pressure such as when a nail becomes embedded in the tire), and traction control (allows for grip to the road under various weather conditions), all of which make daily commutes all the more safer and reliable. The 2019 Ram 1500 includes a special addition of ventilated front disc and solid rear disc brakes. Ventilated disks are at an advantage such as weight savings and provide an increase in convective heat transfer area, keeping them cool and reducing potential warping.

Measurements

Due to its powerful engine, the 2019 Ram model is able to have a maximum towing capacity of a whopping 9,160 pounds that just surpasses the 2019 Ford model of 9,100 pounds. Ram provides all of this power in a slimmer model measuring in at 79.4 inches in width, compared to the 79.9-inch width of the Ford. This slimmer body allows for mobility through tighter areas while still providing plenty of storage and seat space.

Additional Packages

On top of all of the standard features built into these 2019 models, additional packages can be purchased to spruce them up and customize them even further. The 2019 Ram has LED bed lighting available, as well as a RamBox Cargo management system, and a sliding rear window, among others.
