Introducing the All-New 2019 Jeep Cherokee

2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited

The all-new 2019 Jeep Cherokee's new design offers more comfort on the inside and amazing handling capabilities. The front and rear suspension systems are independent of each other and are stiff and strong. The new model comes with three engine options, more than eighty different safety features, and a nine-speed transmission.

There are five different trims - the Latitude, the Latitude Plus, the Limited, the Overland, and the trail-rated Trailhawk. All versions are made in Belvidere, Illinois. This new mid-size SUV is able to compete in a group that has over two million sales a year.

Classic Styling, Modern Look

The exterior of the 2019 Jeep Cherokee has stayed relatively close to the original, classic look of the Jeep. The new features available to you include a new body, a lightweight hood, all-new LED headlights, daylight running lamps, new fog lights, and a liftgate. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee has a fresh new look, but it still holds on to the capabilities of the original Jeep Cherokee in all weather and road conditions.

There are a few ways that the new Jeep Cherokee stays true to its roots. It still has a wide stance and the proportions of the wheel-to-body ratio make it extremely distinctive. The departure angles and aggressive approach increase capability. The one piece that helps to not only maintain the classic look but also keep the jeep looking like a premium pick is the signature waterfall look of the hood, which is combined with the seven-slot grille. The new front contributes even more to the wide stance and has LED fog lights on either side. The cruise control radar sensor is directly below this. If you decide to get the Overland trim, you will be able to get steel tow hooks.

Many New Features

A few more great features for you to keep in mind are the push-push feature of the fuel door and capless fuel fill so that you will not have to worry about getting gasoline on your hands. In addition, there is a sleeker look to the tail end of the vehicle so that it flows better and looks more aesthetically pleasing.

As for the tail lights, Cherokee has included a new 'Feature Light' which is a thin LED light strip that goes around each tail light (stop, turn, and reverse) and makes them look sharper. The liftgate release handle has been positioned a bit higher to be more comfortable for you and you can open the liftgate by performing a kicking motion under the bumper.

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trail Rated Trailhawk far surpasses its competitors in off-road capabilities. Some of the features that have been changed to make this possible for you are the redesigned front, the approach angle, the hood decal that is now anti-glare, and the standard red tow hooks. The Trailhawk also has a skid plate underneath so you have protection no matter the terrain. It also has 17-inch off-road tires for amazing 4x4 capabilities that surpass its competitors. This is the most capable midsize SUV around.

Opulent Interior Options

There are more than eighty safety features available and there is a ton of new, useful, and easy-to-use technology.

Piano Black paint is used on the interior with Satin Chrome tracer on the accents. Putting these two colors together make for an amazing high-class look and feel to the interior. The parking brake button has also been moved close to the center shifter for easier use. The media center with a USB port and 115-volt outlet has been moved to the back of the center console so that you will have more room in the front for your cell phone.

Most of the materials on the inside remain the same, but the colors have been changed to lighter tones so that the interior gives you a more welcoming vibe. The seats are designed to be more ergonomically comfortable and are covered in Nappa leather for your comfort as well. You also have the option to get power adjustable heated and ventilated seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and much more. The rear cargo space has been increased; now more than 27 cubic feet for anything you need to store there.

In some of the trims, there are new color schemes from which to choose. The Latitude and Latitude plus offer the option of a Storm Blue Interior, which has black seats with blue stitching, and the Cherokee Overland offers a Dark Sienna which is inspired by Earth tones.

Powertrains

The 2.0-liter direct injection turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine has engine stop-start (ESS) and is one of three engines offered for the 2019 Jeep Cherokee. This engine is one of the most advanced in the industry; it will give you 270 horsepower with 295 pounds per foot of torque, and comes with the nine-speed automatic transmission.

The 2.0-liter I-4 has a turbocharger and gives you great performance and responsiveness because it also has an electric actuated wastegate. This engine is from the Global Medium Engine architecture family and employs a twin-scroll turbocharger, a C-EGR system, a central direct injection, and a system that independently cools the intake of air, throttle body, and turbo. All of this combines to give you a better running engine.

This I-4 has an aluminum alloy cylinder head that has a central injector and intake ports that are higher. This helps the engine to perform more efficiently. In addition, a water-cooled exhaust manifold helps to keep emissions low.

The pistons are cast-aluminum. Each cylinder is fitted with engine jets to help cool it and increase the durability of the pins, and the floating piston pins have a diamond-like coating so there is a reduced amount of friction.

A high-energy ignition system gives the engine better fuel efficiency and it includes a two-stage oil pump that can switch between low-pressure and high-pressure depending on the driving conditions you are dealing with.

In addition to the engine options mentioned above, there is also a 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6 engine available and a 2.4-liter PZEV Multiair2 Tigershark I-4 engine. Both of these come with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

The 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6 gives you 271 horsepower and 239 pounds per foot of torque, and allows you to tow up to 4,500 pounds. The engine has 24 valves and a 10.7:1 compression ratio, which helps to lower fuel consumption.

The 2.4-liter MultiAir2 Tigershark I-4 gives you 180 horsepower with 170 pounds per foot of torque.

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee now has an improved TorqueFlight nine-speed automatic transmission. This helps to give you better launches, better delivery of power on the highway, and better fuel efficiency than the six-speed automatic transmission. The new transmission gives you better performance on the road and it is configured to make sure that you are always in the right gear.

There are MacPherson struts on the front and an independent multi-link suspension for the back that help to absorb any of the bumps you might encounter along the way.

An electronic power steering system (EPS) that is included in the new Jeep Cherokee helps with fuel efficiency.

The 2019 Jeep Cherokee comes with more than eighty different safety and security features. Some of them include ParkSense, Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
