The 2018 Jeep Renegade is available at Landmark DCJR

When the Jeep Renegade was originally unveiled it was different from the rest of the Jeep lineup. There was definitely the consideration by some traditionalists that it was too small to be able to be a decent off-road jeep. However, when looking at the Trailhawk model that comes with underbody skid plates, standard all-wheel-drive system, a low range or crawl ratio, and the red tow hooks, you can see that it is more than sufficient as an off-road vehicle.

The interior has been redesigned for 2018. The controls and USB ports have been moved to effectively free up some space for the front row storage space. You might only notice this small change if you have owned the 2017 version of the Renegade. The backup camera is now a standard feature included in all versions.

Another new feature for 2018 is the dual-pane power sunroof along with a My Sky roof system with two removable panels, available for all model options. There are new colors and different fabrics to choose from as well as trim treatment updates for the 2018 Jeep Renegade.

With all the new updates, the 2018 Jeep Renegade definitely lives up to the Jeep name. This version is the roomiest in its segment, has the most responsive steering, and is a great ride for such a convenient machine. The My Sky Sunroof can not only be completely removed, but can also be retracted like a traditional sunroof. The upgrade on the materials offered for the inside makes this new 2018 model more accessible to a younger crowd without losing its already established customer base. Overall, the upgrades and changes to the 2018 Jeep Renegade are excellent and well worth looking into for yourself.

The new Jeep Renegade comes equipped with rounded headlights, a seven-slotted vertical grille, short overhangs for rock climbing, and a rugged style. The 2018 Renegade is more modern than retro, however. It comes fully loaded with plenty of black trim and curved surfaces.

The cargo area of the Jeep Renegade is square, located in the rear, with a hatch allowing reasonably tall items to be stored. The Renegade also has a tire service kit standard on all trim lines, except for the Trailhawk, which includes a full-size spare tire. However, a full-size temporary spare tire is also optional.

The 2018 Jeep Renegade hits the highways full speed ahead, offering two 4-cylinder engines - the Sport and Latitude models. The Latitude model has a 1.4-liter that is turbocharged; however, it is only available with a 6-speed manual. The larger 2.4-liter comes with the 9-speed automatic transmission, which is optional on those models and standard on Limited and Trailhawk models. The four-wheel drive provides Selec-Terrain that allows the option of choosing four settings: Sand, Auto, Mud, and Snow. Each optimizes performance for different road and weather conditions. Rock mode and Hill Descent Control are available on the Trailhawk trim level.

Navigation on the 2018 Jeep Renegade is equipped with state-of-the-art enhanced voice command, rendering it easy to program navigation destinations.

The Forward-Collision Warning System with Brake Assist alerts the driver with both an audible and visual warning that immediately grabs the driver's attention and prompts the driver to slow down. There are three different settings for alerts: far, middle, and near. The system not only warns you, but is also equipped with automatic braking that gives a quick tap on the brake to get the drivers attention. It can also automatically apply brakes when an imminent collision is detected, which completely avoids some low-speed crashes and greatly reduces the severity of high-speed crashes. The Brake Assist will sense the speed and force that is applied to the brake pedal when it is depressed in order to determine if the driver wants to make an emergency stop and will instantly apply full force to braking.

Blind-Spot Warning

The system monitors traffic in adjacent lanes using radar technology. An icon is illuminated in the outside mirror to warn that another vehicle is beside you; one that could also be hidden in the car's blind spot. The icon will flash and give warning sounds when operating the turn signal to indicate errant moving into the path of another adjacent vehicle.

Climate Features

The 2018 Jeep Renegade offers optional climate features that are unique in its class and even in a luxury car. The mid-level Latitude can be equipped with a dual-zone automatic climate control, with heated front seats, windshield washer de-icer, and a heated steering wheel. Steering wheel controls include an analog gauge that is easy to read, has a three-inch display screen that displays trip, fuel economy, and other vehicle information.

Most 2018 Jeep Renegades will have an Uconnect 5.0 system that has a five-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, and which can store up to 10 phone identities. Bluetooth pairing is simple, and can dial phone numbers, emergency services or contacts by voice command. It can transmit the vehicle's location in the event of emergencies or in case of a crash. A Wi-Fi wireless hotspot and SiriusXM Travelink is optional.

The Jeep Renegade for 2018 comes in multiple trim levels including: Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk, all of which are offered at a great price range.

There are power features on every Renegade. They also all have things like an AM and FM radio with four speakers, keyless entry, a cargo floor that is height adjustable and back and front 12-volt power outlets. This vehicle at Latitude level has a 7.0-inch touchscreen for its audio system and has satellite radio and Bluetooth audio streaming along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

In the Limited trim, keyless ignition is added, along with a power outlet of 115 volts, an audio system of 180 watts, heated and powered front seats, 18-inch (instead of 16-inch) wheels, and a rear seat that split folds. Also available is the optional 8.4 inch touchscreen.

At Trailhawk level, you get great off-road capacity with features such as a nine-speed automatic transmission, rock driving mode, as well as a full-sized spare tire in case of emergency.

Other options abound with the Jeep Renegade, including 17- or 18-inch wheels, leather trim, wireless internet, and cruise control. You might also opt for the sunroof with dual pane glass.
