Which 2019 Ram 1500 Trim is Best for You?

Now in its fifth generation, the 2019 Ram 1500 offers a lot of all-new features as standard, a new look and feel, and a load of new options that will make every driver happy. This year's lineup changes from the nine trim options that were available in 2018 to seven. The seven trims are more rationally divided, and one option will be the perfect choice for you. No matter what you use your Ram 1500 for, you're sure to find a trim that suits your tastes and needs.

The 2019 Ram 1500 trim options are the Tradesman, HFE, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Longhorn, and Limited.

Standard on all options is a 3.6-liter V6 with 305 horsepower and 269 pounds per foot of torque. For every trim apart from the HFE flavor, there is a bigger and beefier 5.7-liter V8 available (395 horsepower, 410 pounds per foot of torque).

The transmission is an automatic eight-speed, with a 3.21 axle ratio and rear-wheel drive. You can choose four-wheel drive as an option on all trims apart from the HFE. You can also change to a lower axle ratio (3.55 and 3.92) on most variants.

Many of a specific trim level's standard features come as an option for the more basic trim below it. Strictly cosmetic optional extras are plentiful, ranging from chrome finishing, grille colors, and material choices, to accent variants. There are a lot of options to customize bed size and finishing, off-road features, towing capabilities, and more. There are more premium options like 22-inch wheels that can be chosen only on the top-notch trims, from the Laramie up to the Limited.

Take A Look At All The 2019 Ram 1500 Trim Levels

1. The Tradesman

This is without a doubt the workhorse of all the trims but is the cheapest 2019 Ram 1500 for sale. The Tradesman is a heavy-duty vehicle that infrequently indulges in luxury. It has 18-inch steel wheels, vinyl flooring, and the Uconnect infotainment with a five-inch touchscreen.

Even if this is clearly a work truck, it is still not without basic comforts that would suggest a higher 2019 Ram 1500 price. The Tradesman comes standard with a lot of little useful things like automatic headlights, a locking tailgate, heated side mirrors, cruise control, a folding bench seat, air conditioning, a rearview camera, a USB charging port on the rear seat, a basic five-inch touchscreen for the Uconnect infotainment system, and a six-speaker audio system.

Options to choose from to upgrade this trim are a Class IV hitch receiver, trailer brake control, an electronic locking rear differential, chrome exterior finishing, spray-in bedliner, cloth finishing for the interiors, a folding rear seat, and satellite radio.

2. The HFE

The HFE is a Tradesman-like trim, but, as the name implies (High Fuel Efficiency - HFE), it comes with a more fuel efficient V6 engine. This trim comes only with rear-wheel drive and has no option for four-wheel drive. It slots in between the Tradesman and Big Horn models and features a standard chrome grille, wheel to wheel side steps and a tonneau cover. The only axle ratio available is 3.21 ratio and the truck comes standard with a 23-gallon fuel tank. Color choices are limited to Diamond Black or Bright White.

Overall the HFE should appeal to people looking for a moderately equipped pickup truck who are looking to squeeze every last mile out of a gallon of gas. You can lock in your warehouse pricing today at Landmark DCJR at the Miracle Mile.

3. The Big Horn (Lone Star)

The Big Horn (or the Lone Star in Texas) starts to sport some more goodies, such as 18-inch alloy wheels, standard fog lights, obscured windows, a floor carpet, cloth upholstery, and a 60/40-split folding rear bench seat.

But what really makes the Big Horn different from the Tradesman variant are the options you can choose from to upgrade even more this already beefier trim. You can mount 20-inch wheels, air suspensions, LED headlights and taillights, add side steps, climate control with dual zone, and get a bigger and better Uconnect infotainment with an 8.4-inch touchscreen and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration for smartphone pairing. You can also customize the beds, mount a bigger fuel tank or put on underbody protection to add some armor for off-roading.

4. The Rebel

This trim is perfect for off-road adventuring. It comes standard with special off-road tires, a front hook for towing with rear gear, a heavy-duty suspension, fortified shocks, skid plates, and an electronically locking rear axle with an axle ratio of 3.92. Also, it has hill descent control.

You can upgrade this off-road beast with some nice stuff like a Class IV hitch receiver, LED headlights, LED fog lights, a 115-volt outlet, front bucket seats, and an even bigger touchscreen display with satellite radio.

5. The Laramie

From this trim onward, the Ram 1500 starts to morph from a simple workhorse or rugged off-road vehicle to a luxury cruiser. In this trim, you will find as standard most of the upgrades and options of the former four trims. You get front and rear parking sensors, a leather interior, power-adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated seats, a driver seat with position memory, a heated steering wheel, and many other useful and premium features.

You can add to this trim some more premium optional features like an automatic rearview mirror, another 115-volt power outlet, two USB ports at the rear seat, an improved audio system with nine speakers, and so on.

6. The Longhorn

The Longhorn adds even more comfort to the Laramie, coming standard with 20-inch wheels, chrome finishing for the side steps, an even better leather interior, a wooden steering wheel wrapped in leather, all-seats heated and ventilated, and an integrated navigation system. In its standard model, the Longhorn sports a small bed, but you can choose the longer bed as an optional feature. You can also choose to take out the spray-in bedliner that comes standard in this trim.

7. The Limited

The Limited represents the top-notch trim, the one that includes all the upgrades and options available for the other models of the Ram 1500 lineup. It comes with a full load of goodies, like chrome exterior finishing, retractable side steps, a premium leather interior, and rear traffic alert, just to name a few features. This is the option perfect for those who don't want to compromise on anything.
